What is the difference between the close out mugs and the newer ones?

First let me say that both mugs are great quality and are dishwasher safe.

The newer mugs are done with a method called heat sublimation. I do them in house myself. We decided it was better for us to print the mugs ourselves because we could offer all our artwork. The nice thing about heat sublimation is that we also get almost the full range of colors.

The older style were done with decals. They were great when we started out, but since they were made for us by a company in California we had to order 5,000 of each style that we wanted done. With that minimum we could only do a couple of new mugs each year. Decals also don’t offer the full range of color, pinks and purples don’t show up really, so I couldn’t do designs like the Calavera Enamorada which is all pink. That design IS available now with the heat sublimation method and the pink is really vibrant.
